Shopfloor Copilot's digital Andon board brings lean manufacturing visibility to the factory floor. Display real-time OEE per production line, active maintenance alerts, downtime cause codes, and machine health status on any large-format screen — no operator input required.
An Andon board (from the Japanese andon — lantern) is a visual management tool used in lean manufacturing to communicate real-time production status to the entire shopfloor. Pioneered by Toyota as part of the Toyota Production System (TPS), the Andon signal allows any operator to call for help when a quality problem, equipment fault, or production delay occurs — making problems visible immediately rather than hiding them until end-of-shift reports.
Traditional Andon systems used physical signal towers (red/yellow/green lights). Modern digital Andon board software replaces these with dynamic displays showing OEE values, alert lists, throughput vs. plan, and machine status — driven directly from live production data.
Current-shift OEE displayed per production line. Availability, Performance, and Quality components shown individually. Auto-updates every 30 seconds.
All active maintenance alerts with severity (Critical / High / Medium / Low), machine name, and time since trigger. New alerts flash on the display.
Real-time downtime event list with cause codes. Shows which lines are currently stopped and elapsed downtime in minutes.
Kiosk-friendly full-screen layout designed for 40"–85" factory floor screens. No login required for display mode — just open the URL on a display browser.
Top-5 machines by health risk shown on the board. Red indicators for machines below health score 50. Drives proactive maintenance calls.
All data sourced directly from OPC UA signals — no manual data entry. Andon status reflects real machine state, not operator-reported estimates.
The core lean principle behind Andon is jidoka — making problems visible so they can be solved at the source, immediately. Research shows that production problems caught within 5 minutes of occurrence cost 10× less to fix than those discovered after the shift.
An Andon board is a visual status display used in lean manufacturing to communicate real-time production status. Digital Andon boards show OEE, active alerts, downtime cause codes, throughput counts, and machine status on large-format screens visible across the production floor.
Per-line OEE (current shift), active maintenance alerts with severity levels, recent downtime events with cause codes, throughput vs. plan, and machine health status. Auto-refreshes every 30 seconds — designed for factory floor screens.
Shopfloor Copilot's Andon board is pre-built and data-connected. Point a browser at your display URL — no hardware, no PLC programming, no integration project.
